In 1999 came a substantial renovation by the Von Witzleben family to the park, which created the foundation for the ‘Historic Gardens’, provided in part by grants and renovation donations. Thanks to such generous support, the first part of the renovation was completed by restoring historic scenic spaces and open vistas. In the second renovation, which followed in 2009, more urgent measures were undertaken to remediate issues within the park.
Thanks to these efforts, the park has reached a new ‘bloom’ similar to those referred to by Pastor Muhle in his romanticized stories in which he described many of the elements making this graceful park well known amongst travelers and tourists.
